God used to talk directly with the human race. There are multiple examples of these conversations in the Bible, but is it still possible to talk to God today?

Yes!
You’re talking to God any time you pray. The Bible has a lot to say about prayer, but here are three key takeaways.
1. God wants you to talk to Him because He loves you.
2. God promises to hear you and will answer your prayers.
3. Understanding why you are able to talk to God is most important.
1 Can you talk to God in your mind
“Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all…Search me, O God, and know my heart; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.” Psalm 139:4,23,24
Yes, God hears even before we take the intention to speake. If we talk in mind or feel in our heart God knows.
One day I was standing all alone in my kitchen cutting up the potatoes for lunch. My husband and I had just had an argument and it left me with a very negative feeling because his arguments were just so unfair, let alone unjust.
So I’m THINKING in my mind (and remember .. I’m completely alone!) and he’s downstairs in his workshop.
So I’m PRAYING …(only God could have heard me). I can’t remember the context but it went something like this;
“GOD!!! That’s not fair! Why can’t he see that every blessing he HAS is through MY family!!!!”.
Then I forgot completely about it and carried on peeling potatoes.
So then, I turned suddenly, and my husband is saying to me
“ I just thought to myself I must come and tell you that I just thought that what i said to you just now was completely unfair and and I’m sorry, I now see that every blessing I have has come to me through YOUR family!”
I don’t know how I didn’t drop the peeler!!
There’s NO way he could have possibly known what I was thinking.
lve had many other times since then that have showed me the truth of what Jesus said, that He would send us the comforter and that He would be WITH us even to the ends of the Earth.
(At that time I was at a particularly low faith time where I was praying a LOT and spending much time in the Word since “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” and I believe that that happened that day as was God affirming Himself to me because after that day EVERYTHING changed, and I went to a whole new level with my faith walk)
How do you talk to God?
3 Ways to talk to God
1. Talking to God through Prayer
There are many methods and acronyms to help guide us in how to pray, one of the most popular being A.C.T.S: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. Adoration sets our hearts right, giving praise to God for who He is. Confession expresses what Christ accomplished. Through salvation, our confessed sins are forgiven (1 John 1:9).
Thanksgiving moves our hearts toward a state of gratefulness (As we grow with Christ even our trials begin to make it onto to this list). Supplication represents our prayer requests for help, healing, blessing, and beyond.
2. Talking to God through Journaling
A.C.T.S. can also be helpful when journaling to God. Create a space dedicated to having quiet times with God. I, myself, use this method of prayer because, without an intent to stay focused, my mind drifts into my to-do list for the day.
In fact, I keep a piece of paper next to my journal to jot down things that pop up to distract me. I write them down and then put it aside to return my focus to prayer.
Couple prayer journaling with daily devotional readings of Scripture to complete the conversation. God’s Word pops up applicably to address our prayer concerns. Sometimes immediately, others over time. Those breakthrough moments are the incredible miracles that cement our faith and cause us to crave more time with Him.
3. Talking to God in Spontaneous Prayer
Megan Hill wisely addressed spontaneous prayer in her article, “Why Spontaneous Prayer and Planned Prayer are Both Important: “We need spontaneous prayer because we are dependent every moment on the Lord, and we are together dependent on him.
Praying about something right in the moment reminds us of that very dependence.
” Scripture encourages us to “pray about everything” (Philippians 4:6-7).
Though it’s important to devote a part of our day to the Lord in prayer, we are wise to carry our conversation with Him all throughout it.
2 How does God talk to you
1. God talks through audible voice
God can talk to you directly and audibly if he chooses, like he did with Moses, Abraham and Paul. However this is not a common way that God speaks to us.
2. God can talk to you through a vision.
God can also give you visions while you are awake or through your dreams. This is also not the most Common way God speaks to us but is also not extremely uncommon.
One way that God communicates with us is by giving us sudden revelation. This is especially common when someone asks for wisdom. somewhere you may see or hear something seemingly small and insignificant but it triggers sudden understanding of something.
or it may just come to you. This is one way God speaks to us indirectly by putting something in front of us that triggers such revelation.
3. God can talk to you through your mind
Another way God talks to us directly is described by many as God speaking to your soul or speaking to your heart. Basically it’s like god is speaking privately to you inside your mind. This kind of communication with God only comes through developing a close Relationship with the God.
Not everyone experiences this kind of communion with the Holy spirit because not everyone is really listening. God is a gentleman, and if you don’t really want him in our life then he will not interject himself. Also God wants us to follow him on blind faith.
So until you have this kind of childlike faith in God, then your “spiritual ears” as many people refer to it will remain closed. in every step in your relationship with our Christ, faith is a necessary component, and doubt is an extreme hindrance.
This i think is why God waits until people are more mature in their faith before speaking to them. Even when you are mature in your faith you must listen. Just as with ordinary people, if you don’t listen and pay attention you will never know what they are saying.
4. God speaks to us through Past Experiences:
Psalm 77:11 – “I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”
Talk to God through prayer
Dear God,
You say “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:27).
I am your sheep. You are my shepherd. I want to hear your voice. Reveal yourself to me. Make your voice loud and clear, and I will follow. Show me the way, and I will walk with you.
You say “Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” (John 8:47).
I am examining my heart and see that my genuine desire is to be yours, God. Am I of you and don’t hear your voice because of all wordly chatter in my life? Or am I not of you, and that’s why I don’t hear your voice, God?
You say “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12).
God, I want to belong to you and only you. I think my heart is pure but if you discern that my heart isn’t truly pure and if you examine me and decide that I’m not yet yours, which is why I can’t hear your voice, make me yours, God, I want to be yours. Show me how to be yours. Speak to me. Lead me. Take me where I need to go. Help me walk in your purpose for my life.
You say “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”(Jeremiah 33:3).
I am calling to you, God, please answer, speak to me clearly and directly. My desire for your wisdom and will is burning, and I want to honor you with my life. I want to fulfill your purpose.
You say “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17).
I spend time every day in the word. I am seeking your voice. Father, I want to grow and mature in my faith. My eyes are set on Jesus Christ, and my heart is desiring more of you. Help me hear your divine voice when I am in the word every day, God. And, through hearing, please increase my faith, Father.
In the marvelous name of Jesus Christ I pray.
