Do you feel yourself drifting away from God? Before we can begin restoring relationship with God, we need to understand that this relationship is broken to begin with and why that is the case.
“If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. ROMANS 10:9“
Six tips to restoring relationship with God.
1.Speak with Him
Communication is essential for strengthening your relationship with God, just as it is with any other person in your life. Close your eyes and imagine Him standing right next to you, listening intently to everything you say as you pray. Talk to Him in the same way that a child would talk to their parent. He is available to answer all of your questions and concerns and to offer advice. Talk to Him as often as possible. He is there for you not only when you are in need, but also when you simply want to talk. Praying brings God closer to His children.
2.Obey Him
Follow God’s commands. We are all different in some way. We wouldn’t be here in the first place if we weren’t. We grow and develop in this life in order to be reunited with God at the end. The very least we can do for Him is try our hardest to obey His commands. We should be kind and honest to others and try to attend as many church meetings as possible. We become brighter and stronger in spirit, integrity, and mind as we obey God’s will.
3.Examine the scriptures
When we want to strengthen our faith and relationship with God, we can turn to the Scriptures for help. They make it possible for God to communicate with His children. The Bible also provides a glorious account of spiritual moments throughout history. The stories in the scriptures, in theory, deal with similar circumstances to what we are facing today. Learning about others who have had their faith and patience tested can give us the strength we need to get through our own trials. Making time each day to study the scriptures can completely revitalize your tired soul.
4.Listen to Him.
Even if we talk to God frequently, we may not be listening for His answers and guidance. When you finish praying, don’t immediately turn on the loud movie you were watching or climb into bed for the night. Take the time to pause, look, and listen for God’s responses to your prayers. When you don’t get an answer to your own prayers, God may prompt you to be an answer to someone else’s. Make an effort to listen as much as you speak to Him. Communication is two-way.
5.Thank Him
Demonstrate to your Heavenly Father that you are grateful for all of your blessings. We are blessed, and we are sometimes quick to ask for more before we take the time to thank Him. Say a prayer of thanksgiving. Being thankful for God’s hand in your life will make you more appreciative of His constant presence and your purpose on Earth. Being gracious and expressing humility go hand in hand.
7.Take care.
Recognize God’s presence in your life. Though He may appear to be far away at times, He is not. He will never leave your side. It is easy to become so engrossed in the events of the world that we forget to seek God’s presence in our lives. Try to be grateful and aware of how much He has blessed you and continues to bless you every day during these times. Being humble and showing genuine love and respect for God can resurrect even the most dormant relationship with Him. Keep your relationship with your heavenly Father in mind. He is the most powerful ally and guardian you can have in your life.
